1 DAY RELAY – Bryce Canyon Gateway to Zion

Friday June 23, 2017  7-9 pm MST

Saturday June 24, 2014  5-6 am MST

Location: RIVERSIDE RANCH (see map)  594 US Hwy 89 at mile marker 117        1 mile north of Hatch Utah 84735

Team captains or members may check in for the entire team.  We will not supply partial team bags to individual team members.  Bring photo ID.  Teams will receive a slap wrist baton; team t-shirts, bibs and safety pins and two race guides for 12 person teams or 1 for 6 person teams.  The option to buy or rent safety flags, head lamps, and water sprayers will be an option. For teams who are not able to check in on Thursday night for full relay or Friday night for 1 Day relay may do so at the starting line a minimum of one hour prior to the start of your leg on Friday/Saturday morning. First leg runners are required to do an additional “Runner Check-in” 30 minutes before race start to confirm the team’s participation. There will be a 2nd check-in for Van 2 at the first major van exchange (ex 6) from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm. If your team captain did not pick up your stuff for Van 2 then Van 2 may do so here. We will have a table set up for check in and for questions and answers. Please find us and check in! top

Official Start Times will be determined 10 days before race day.  Once you have your teams average pace, please email your teams pace to the race director Ellen Mueller at ellen@topofzion.com.  They must be submitted at least 2 weeks before race day.

+ numbers means that your average team pace must be between 9 min/mile and 10 min/mile.

*This means teams are out of the volunteer scheduled zone because they are to fast.  If this happens, teams will be held until they are back on schedule and could result in disqualification.

** Finish Line opens at 9:00 am.  Runners will not be able to pass the start line before 9 am.  Please plan accordingly when requesting start times.

***If your team happens to have an average 10k pace faster than 7 min/mile please let us know so we can arrange for volunteers to be stationed during the first part of the relay. Because of the drastic time gap between the 7 min/mile and 6 min/mile and the rare possibility that we might actually have a team that can hold that fast of a pace for the entire relay, we won’t have volunteers available unless necessary. Just let us know.

Please note that due to hills, high elevation, and heat, consistently maintaining the teams 10k average pace will be difficult to do.  Please keep this in mind when estimating your meeting times at van exchanges. Cell phone service is sketchy and often non-existent making communication very difficult between vans. We are excited about making your experience better overall! See below for more information.
